John Moore, general counsel and board member for NCRA, writes: If the waste industry truly reconfigured itself to become a resource recovery industry dedicated to zero waste, could they do it better and more quickly than existing recyclers and would existing recyclers support it? There is no question that the two industries now compete for the same discard supply and that the wasters have the advantage in money, resources, and government contacts.

BOARD MEETING, SEPTEMBER 18
BIN PROJECT" SCREENING BEGINS AT 5:00PM AND BOARD MEETING AT 7PM
Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) will host the Thursday, September 18 board meeting at its
offices on 21040 Marshall Street which is .7 mile from Castro Valley BART. The
meeting will begin at 5:00pm with the award winning documentary Clean
Bin Project which lasts for 75 minutes followed by the board meeting at 7pm. Clean Bin is a fun journey through the lives of Jen and Grant
as they aim for Zero Waste. It is the first documentary by Jen Rustemeyer and
Grant Baldwin, filmmakers of the food waste documentary Just Eat It, which will
be featured at the Zero Food Waste Forum on October 16th.
If you plan to join us for the film and/or dinner, please RSVP by September 11 with
“NCRA September 18” in the subject line. Members are free; Non-members who take
part in the dinner will be asked to pay a donation of up to $7 for the food. Carpooling is encouraged. The best
bet is to arrange for someone to pick you up at BART. If you need help with

The NCRA Board meets the third Thursday of the month - except in August and December.
