John Moore, general counsel and board member for NCRA, writes: If the waste industry truly reconfigured itself to become a resource recovery industry dedicated to zero waste, could they do it better and more quickly than existing recyclers and would existing recyclers support it? There is no question that the two industries now compete for the same discard supply and that the wasters have the advantage in money, resources, and government contacts.

Board Meetings


There will not be a board meeting open to the public in October as we will be hosting a closed training session for board members instead. Please come see join us at either the Zero Waste Food Forum on Oct 16th or the Feeding the 5000 event in Oakalnd on Oct 18th! We will be having our last board meeting of the year in November with no meeting in December.

Thanks to those who joined us last month at the Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) for the screening of the documentary Clean Bin Project followed by the board meeting. Clean Bin is the first documentary by Jen Rustemeyer and Grant Baldwin, filmmakers of the food waste documentary Just Eat It, which will be featured at the Zero Food Waste Forum on October 16th. 

The NCRA Board meets the third Thursday of the month - except in August and December.
