President's Report

By Laura McKaughan
Our Indian summer is here at long last and many of us are enjoying the warmer days by getting outside. Last week NCRA took advantage of a particularly warm Sunday to host its annual Members Picnic at Lake Temescal in North Oakland. The gathering featured a BBQ, iced beverages and a little boche ball and croquet. The event was well attended and successful in getting the word out to new/renewing members.

NCRA has history! Its origins go back to the first Earth Day, and the roots of modern recycling. Some of the founders are still around and participating. NCRA is a great place to get an ecological perspective on recycling issues, which is not easy to find in the current waste diversion at all cost mindset.

This three day course focused on the All the Basics: Terms, Concepts, Equipment, and Resources in the greater Bay Area. It's a valuable tool for those new to the industry or for those looking to implement more effective waste diversion campaigns in their towns. The course will be offered again in the Spring, typically in March. Please check back to our web site for more details!
