PVC CAMPAIGN - Act Now!!!
Last fall, Wal-Mart committed to phasing out PVC packaging, sending shockwaves throughout the chemical industry. Help leverage this victory and send a message to Wal-Mart asking them to declare independence from PVC, the poison plastic.

From vinyl shower curtains to children's toys, PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic products pervade our homes and lives. These products are dangerous to our health and environment from start to finish - in the factory, at home, and in the trash, releasing poisonous chemicals linked to cancer and birth defects. The new shower curtain smell is the smell of toxic chemicals being released in your home. The good news is safe and cost-effective alternatives exist.
Wal-Mart sells many common consumer products out of the poison plastic. Families shouldn't have to worry whether their children's toys or shower curtain may expose their children to dangerous toxins. As the worlds largest retailer bringing in over $300 billion in sales, Wal-Mart has a responsibility to sell safe and healthy products instead of products containing unnecessary dangerous chemicals. Other retailers, such as Ikea, have completely phased out PVC.
Take action today and tell Wal-Mart to declare independence from PVC . It will only take a minute, and could make a major difference.
Help us spread the word by forwarding this message to your friends and family or through the tell-a-friend page and encourage them to take action today.

NCRA Campaigns
NCRA writes letters supporting
or opposing state and local issues according to NCRA's mission.
Help us keep your recycling issues in front of the courts. NCRA
has been instrumental in providing a voice for recyclers in the
state capitol, local hearings and even state and federal court.
NCRA won the fight to scale down the mega-dump at Altamont and continues
to provide oversight for environmental, recycling, and community
concerns as part of the settlement. NCRA has sent letters to State
Senate and Assembly members on timely issues such as Cathode Ray
Tubes and producer responsibility. NCRA signed an Amicus Brief before
the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals asserting that material that
is recycled is not solid waste regardless of whether the collector
is paid a fee. NCRA opposes flow control that allows recyclable
materials to be disposed in landfills and supports thepremise that
recyclables are property.
Check out how you can take
action on these issues:
- PVC
Bottle resolution passed by NCRA. Read the resolution and
write your letters.
- Join NCRA
in writing a personalized message to the CEO
of National Geographic to encourage him to switch their publications
to 30-50% post-consumer recycled paper.
